The Snowdon Mountain Railway is a renowned tourist railway in Wales, covering a 4.7-mile route from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. This scenic journey is considered one of the most picturesque railway experiences globally. The railway operates in challenging weather conditions and uses single carriage trains pushed by steam or diesel locomotives.

The Snowdon Mountain Railway, the only public rack and pinion railway in the United Kingdom, offers a breathtaking journey. Departing from Llanberis Station, the railway crosses two viaducts, providing a stunning view of the Ceunant Mawr waterfall. The route includes passing by Waterfall Halt and Hebron Station before culminating at Hafod Eryri, the UK’s highest visitor center on the summit.

Here, visitors can enjoy a magnificent panorama and, on a clear day, venture to the cairn for views stretching as far as Ireland. The summit provides an invigorating atmosphere, allowing visitors to embrace the beauty of Eryri – Land of the Eagles
